Workshops Instructors
Richard Muny is CEO of Chemsultants International Network. His adhesive industry experience includes PSAs, reactive urethane adhesives, medical device adhesives for skin contact and hydrogels. Mr. Muny also has extensive experience in the areas of FDA compliance, GMP and clinical trials. He holds US Patent No. 3,639,500 for a UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesive. He has BS in Chemistry degrees from both Westminster College and Case Western Reserve University.
Gary Avalon is COO of Chemsultants International Network. He has extensive industry experience in SC/DC/Self Wound/ Transfer Tapes for fastening, bonding, wound care, electro-medical and transdermal devices, as well as, PSA hot melt and solvent based adhesive development. He also has experience in PVC compounds and plastisols, extrusion and injection molding pf plastics. Mr. Avalon holds US Patent Nos. 4655768 (Bandage for Sustained Drug Delivery) and 5085655 (Cohesive tape System. He has a BS in Bioengineering from Cleveland State University.
Dr. Pasco Santurri is Vice President of Chemsultants International. He has over 40 years of varied industry experience including PSA and heat activated adhesives, specialty primers and coatings, manufacture of PVC, PVDF and PU films, lamination of adhesive coated products to plastic and wood substrates, gravure printing and adhesive coating processes. He holds US Patent No. 3936560 for: A Self-Sealable Corrosion Protect-able Packaging Material. Dr. Santurri has a BS in Chemistry from Providence College, an MS in Organic Chemistry from Lehigh University and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island.
Jim Duvall is Vice President of Chemsultants. His industry experience includes PSAs, thermal and electrically conductive adhesives, silicone solid, foam and sponge based products, and specialty coated products for electronic, semiconductor and automotive assembly. Mr. Duvall has extensive experience in the areas of DOE and ISO 9000. He is co-author of US Patent No. 6391442 for A Phase Change Thermal Interface Material. He has a BS and an MS in Polymer Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
Joe Mausar is Business Development Manager of Chemsultants. He has over 30 years of experience in the PSA and adhesives industries. His background includes paper, film, foil and synthetic PSA label products, flexographic label converting and offset printing, reflective films and tapes, and photographic and digital imaging processes. Mr. Mausar has a BFA in Industrial Design from KCAI and an MBA in Marketing Management from Baldwin - Wallace College.
Chris Paskey is the Director of Research and Development for Chemsultants. His industry experience includes chemical process engineering; emulsion polymer pilot plant design; single and twin screw extrusion; production engineering; PSA roll and die coating; Six Sigma green belt certification; SPC/SQC; in chemical, industrial, and roll material manufacturing processes. In addition, he has experience in product development having worked on projects in PSA label constructions; application-driven film and paper substrate selection; film extrusion; RFID applications; SEM analysis and laboratory testing methods; extensive knowledge base of PSA and non-PSA roll materials coating, slitting, printing, die cutting, and end-use application requirements and operations.
Don Eppink is Senior Chemist for Physical Testing Services for Chemsultants. His industry experience includes physical and analytical testing and test development in the areas of physical properties, methods and techniques. Mr. Eppink’s capabilities also include accelerated aging, and weathering performance evaluation. His background includes laboratory quality system development and management to ISO 17025. He has a BS in Chemistry and in Education from the University of Dayton.
Brian Bresser is Domestic Sales Manager for ChemInstruments. His background includes equipment related to packaging processes, and testing of packaging materials and adhesives. He is well versed in a variety of test equipment platforms to test peel adhesion, adhesive tack, adhesive shear strength, PSA label release and tape unwind, compression, hardness, stiffness, and the visco-elastic properties of materials.
Collaborating Faculty
Dr. Dave Dunn is the President of FLD Enterprises an adhesive consulting firm. He is a Chemsultants International Network collaborator and routinely presents a variety of training modules as part of the Adhesive and Sealant Council endorsed “Introduction to Liquid Adhesives and Sealants - Laboratory Technician Test Methods Training Workshop”. Dr. Dunn is the author of numerous publications, four books, book chapters and patents and is an acknowledged world expert on acrylic and cyanoacrylate adhesives. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Adhesives & Sealants Industry Magazine and currently writes their monthly Q&A column entitled “Ask Dr. Dave”.
Ben Wilson and Chip Ottman, are with the C.A. Litzler Company. Mr. Wilson is the Sales Manager of PSC, a C.A. Litzler Company, and specializes in Radio Frequency (RF) drying oven systems. Mr. Ottman is Sales Representative for Thermovation, a C.A. Litzler Company, and specializes in Convection Oven Drying systems. Both Mr. Wilson and Mr. Ottman are part of the “Introduction to PSA Technology” Workshop faculty.
Doug Darrow is Vice President of Sales for Cloeren Inc. His current industry focus is in the area of Slot Die coating equipment for adhesive and coating application. Cloeren Inc. specializes in the design and manufacture of Slot Die systems for the application of PS adhesives, as well as, solvent, aqueous, hot melt and alternative solution adhesives and coatings. Mr. Darrow specializes in fluid rheology and fluid modeling in the design of slot dies. He is part of the “Introduction to PSA Technology” Workshop faculty.
