Get to Know Our Adhesive Consultants… Your Workshop Instructors

Richard Muny is CEO of Chemsultants International Network. His 40 years of adhesive industry experience includes PSAs, reactive urethane adhesives, medical device adhesives for skin contact and hydrogels. Mr. Muny also has extensive experience in the areas of FDA compliance, GMP and clinical trials. He holds US Patent No. 3,639,500 for a UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesive. He has BS in Chemistry degrees from both Westminster College and Case Western Reserve University.

Gary Avalon is COO of Chemsultants International Network. He has almost 30 years of industry experience in SC, DC, and self wound transfer tapes for fastening, bonding, wound care, electro-medical and transdermal devices. His experience also includes PSA hot melt and solvent based adhesive development. He has experience in PVC compounds and plastisols, as well as extrusion and injection molding of plastics. Mr. Avalon holds US Patent Nos. 4655768 (Bandage for Sustained Drug Delivery) and 5085655 (Cohesive Tape System). He has a BS in Bioengineering from Cleveland State University.

Dr. Pasco Santurri is Vice President of Chemsultants International. He has over 40 years of varied industry experience including PSA and heat activated adhesives, specialty primers, manufacture of PVC, PVDF and PU films, lamination of adhesive coated products to plastic and wood substrates, gravure printing and adhesive coating processes. He holds US Patent No. 3936560 for a self-sealable corrosion protectable packaging material. Dr. Santurri has a BS in Chemistry from Providence College, an MS in Organic Chemistry from Lehigh University and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island.

Joe Mausar is Director of Marketing and Regulatory Affairs for Chemsultants. He has over 30 years of experience in the PSA and adhesive industries. His background includes paper, film, foil and synthetic PSA label products, flexographic label converting and offset printing, reflective films and tapes, as well as photographic and digital imaging processes. He is an A2LA trained Quality Auditor for ISO 17025. Mr. Mausar has a BFA in Industrial Design from KCAI and an MBA in Marketing Management from Baldwin-Wallace College.

Don Eppink is Senior Chemist for Chemsultants' Physical Testing Services. His industry experience includes physical and analytical testing and test development in the areas of physical properties, methods and techniques. Mr. Eppink's capabilities also include accelerated aging and weathering performance evaluation. His background includes laboratory quality system development and management to ISO 17025. He has a BS in Chemistry and Education from the University of Dayton.

Dave McCann is Director of Research & Development for Chemsultants. His background includes 27+ years of process engineering, quality assurance, product development, technical service and technical management at Diamond Shamrock, Avery Dennison, MACtac, OMNOVA, Spinnaker Coating and Chemsultants International. He has a B.S. Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton.

Tom Besselman is Director of Operations in charge of the Chemsultants Product and Process Development operation. His experience includes both pilot coating and slitting operations. He has 20+ years of product and process development at NCR Corporation, Standard Register, Avery Dennison, and Pechiney Plastic Packaging. He holds a B.S. in Paper Science Engineering and a B.A. in Chemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Mike May is a developmental chemist with Chemsultants. His industry experience is extensive and includes expert knowledge in the following areas: pressure sensitives, mastics, reactive urethanes, hot melt, waterborne, solvent borne and rheology modifiers. He has had direct involvement in automotive interior applications, alkyd/waterborne paints, wood stains and coatings, construction mastics, and rubber toughening additives. He holds a BS in interdisciplinary technology (Polymers and Coatings) from Eastern Michigan University.

Dan Pogany is a Senior R&D Chemist with Chemsultants. His background includes: adhesives, coatings, acrylic, synthetic, natural rubber based, water based, solvent based and hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, He has also helped develop products in epoxy, urethane, emulsion, solvent, UV curable and hot melt adhesives for medical, industrial and consumer products. Mr. Pogany also has experience in process optimization of adhesive coatings and developed methods using FTIR, GC, HPLC and DSC to identify adhesive cure, bond failure or contamination. He holds a B. S. in Chemistry from Kent State University.

Brian Bresser is Sales Manager for ChemInstruments. His background includes packaging process equipment and testing of packaging materials and adhesives. He is well versed in a variety of test equipment platforms to test peel adhesion, adhesive tack, adhesive shear strength, PSA label release and tape unwind, compression, hardness, stiffness, and the visco-elastic properties of materials.

Ben Wilson is with the C.A. Litzler Company. Mr. Wilson is the Sales Manager of PSC, a C.A. Litzler Company and specializes in Radio Frequency (RF) drying oven systems and convection oven drying systems. Mr. Wilson is part of the "Introduction to PSA Technology" Workshop faculty.
